Do Toxins Cause Autism?

Recently, I viewed a segment on “Good Morning America, where Jenny McCarthy, autism campaigner was interviewed about her new book.

Jenny’s son is doing really well with his condition, so she has some credibility in this area. Despite this many autism researchers and top Doctors dismiss her claims because they have no scientific evidence! They assess that you don’t need to know the cause to diagnose autism. Can you believe this!

Jenny recommends a gluten free diet as a way to help with the conditoin, and interestingly stresses toxins and heavy metals as the villains in many instances.

Here is the proposition. When children become autistic and there is no hereditary situation, it must come from their environment!

It is recognised that Alzheimers can be triggered by Heavy Metals (this was denied for a long time too), so why not autism?

Here are Jenny’s top 4 triggers for autistic behaviour.

  1. Aluminium (this is still used in vaccines and many water supplies)
  2. Mercury from Amalagam fillings and seafood
  3. Volatile Organic Chemicals (VOC’s) in carpets and paint used for the nursery.
  4. Pesticides used inside and outside the house.

So there you have it. The evidence is pretty strong that Mercury, Aluminium and VOCs play an important role in the development of autistic symptoms. The logical step would be to remove these substances from pregnant women and young children as a preventive measure.
