Frequently I am asked what is the difference between traditional chelation agents such as EDTA, DMSA, and DMPS, and Activated Liquid Zeolite. If you have investigated the medical treatments you will discover, for instance that normally the considered level for treatment of Lead poisoning is 50 microliters per deciliter, whereas the W.H.O. suggests that 10 microliters per deciliter is the maximum limit. Researchers such as Dr Stephen Gail, expert from the University of Sydney, suggest that any level of lead in the body is unsafe. A similar situation occurs for Mercury.

Why do Doctors only recommend chelation in extreme cases, and then only for short bursts?

Lead and Mercury are stored in fat tissue, bones and other body cells. It doesn’t release easily, hence the medicos use chelation in short bursts to get the body to excrete it. While these protocols work, there are unfortunate side effects as with all medication that make it extremely risky long term. My understanding is that you should never use these protocols for more than 3 months at a time. This makes it a little puzzling why alternates such as liquid zeolite aren’t recommended by the medical profession.

EDTA, DMSA and other chelation protocols pose a number of challenges. They put a chelating agent into the body with a specific negative charge. This attracts particles with the opposite positive charge and binds them to the outside of the chelating agent, i.e. lead is +2. Heavy metal particles powerfully bond with cell receptors, and need this sort of force to let go.

Chelation Robs The Body Of Vital Nutrients

Other particles with +2 valence include Sodium and Magnesium, vital minerals for good health. These may displace the heavy metals on the chelaton agent leaving the toxins deposited somewhere else in the body. There is usually a requirement for additional vitamin and mineral supplements to replace nutrients soaked up by the chelation agent. Because the heavy metals are attached to the outside of the chelating agent, they can damage kidneys and liver during elimination.

As stated before, it can take some time to release an accumulated build up of heavy metals and toxins. Because they are foreign to normal body function many of us are less than efficient in eliminating them, a popular myth spread by Doctors who know nothing about detoxification. I find it astounding that in 2012, some Doctors are still saying that the body will naturally eliminate toxins, and there is no need to do anything about it. Even worse are health authorities who say the solution to serious lead poisoning in such places as Mt Isa, Cockle Creek, and Esperance in Australia is simply to remove the contamination. Naturally this is a good thing, but what of the personal contamination to the people and children who live n these areas?
